For over 50 years, the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) has been the voice of B.C.’s open shop construction industry. What began in 1975 as a grassroots stand for fairness has grown into a powerful movement—representing 4,500+ businesses and 300,000 workers across the province.

ICBA exists for one reason: to champion open shop contractors. We provide competitive group benefits, wellness programs, training, retirement plans, and policy advocacy—all designed to help our members grow, protect their teams, and win more work.

Our members are the builders of B.C.—entrepreneurs, sub-trades, general contractors, and resource companies creating homes, roads, schools, and infrastructure. ICBA backs them with services that drive results: HR/LR support, apprenticeship sponsorship (we’re B.C.’s largest!), business development tools, and strategic advocacy.
